Volunteering is an essential part of the Cub Scouts. Essential to the point that everyone you see in your Pack, every Den Leader, every Adult Leader, everyone coming to our events and helping out is volunteering.

Committee chair

Responsibilities Include (click here) Membership on the Pack Committee; recruiting adult leadership to run the pack with the Cubmaster; developing the pack program plan for presentation to unit leadership for approval and distributing plans to all parents upon approval; ensuring Pack Leaders are trained according to BSA regulations in a timely manner; chairing the Pack Committee meetings on a monthly basis; assisting the Cubmaster whenever needed; presenting the pack charter to the charter organization annually, preparing the annual pack recharter documents and obtaining the necessary fees, signatures, and information

Popcorn kernel

Responsibilities Include (click here) Coordinate Pack and Den Leaders for the annual Popcorn fundraiser. Get sale dates and Popcorn order forms from the council, and distribute to the boys at the first Pack meeting in September. With Committee Chair and Cubmaster, prepare a presentation to the families at the September Pack meeting, discussing overall goals and benefits of the sale. Coordinate turn-in of sales sheets and place Popcorn order for Pack. With help of other volunteers, schedule pickup of popcorn by Scouts. Facilitate and balance funds from Scouts sales. Coordinate Distribution of Prizes to the Scouts that have earned them.

Secretary

Responsibilities Include (click here) Attending Pack Committee Meetings; documenting written minutes and presenting these written minutes of each Pack Committee meeting to all committee members; sending out mailings requested by the Cubmaster or Committee Chairman; and may be requested by an event chairperson to write up permission slips for the event; scheduling of Pack Committee meetings and notification of schedule to Pack Organization. The Secretary is also required to actively maintain a roster of scouts and parents/guardians and document attendance of parents, guardians and scouts at each Pack function.

Public relations

Responsibilities Include (click here) Write regular new releases and distribute pictures relating to pack successes for publication with local newspapers, local radio stations and national scouting media. Maintain Pack media resources, including but not limited to the Pack email lists, Pack website and a Pack Facebook site. Create and distribute a monthly Pack newsletter to all Pack members. Each media must be approved by the Committee Chair or Vice Committee Chair. It is recommended that the Pack Committee receive copies of the media prior to publication or distribution.

Membership chair

Responsibilities Include (click here) Growing the number of Pack scouts each year, conduct an annual recruiting campaign, attendance at Pack recruiting functions, working closely with the Public Relations Chair to increase the Pack marketing materials and outreach to prospective scouts. Work with Pack Committee Chair to prepare the annual charter.

Advancement chair

Responsibilities Include (click here) Proactively communicating with Den Leaders, Cubmaster and Assistance Cubmaster(s) to confirm Cub Scout advancement progress. Prior to each Pack Meeting, the advancement chair compiles the pack advancement report, goes to the council office and purchases patches and awards, or arranges for someone else to do so. The Pack Advancement Chair turns all receipts over to the Pack Treasurer. He or she then prepares a list of awards for each Pack Meeting, fills out a scout recognition card for each award and sorts the awards by den to speed the recognition process for the den leaders. The Pack Advancement Chair will keep advancement records of all Pack Members, including scouts, Pack Committee members and volunteer adults.

Responsibilities Include (click here) Performing all duties as requested by the Cubmaster and Committee chair in planning the monthly pack meetings under the Cubmaster's guidance; planning advancement ceremonies and coordinating Webelos graduation with a Boy Scout Troop, monitoring program changes via regular attendance at District Roundtables; and in the absence of the Cubmaster, conducting the Pack meetings.

Den leaders

Responsibilities Include (click here) Being a registered leader of Pack 297 who leads the Cub Scout or Webelos Den and attends the Pack Committee meeting monthly. Create a 10 month activity plan to meet den advancement requirements, organize den meetings and communicate regular progress to the Cubmaster, Assistant Cubmaster(s) and the Pack Advancement Chair.

Activities chair

Responsibilities Include (click here) Preparation, scout safety and organizational leadership of Pack activities both indoor and outdoor. These activities could include Pack camping trips, Super Trips, Food Drives or Pack/Den meeting exercise and games. It is recommended that the Indoor and Outdoor be divided into separate sub-committees and chaired by separate Pack volunteer leaders.
